  1. Commendation 1F - Congratulate Mikaela Osler for her achievements and breaking the record for the Fastest Known Time (FTK) in hiking the Colorado Trail. 
  2. Commendation 2F - Congratulate the staff and volunteers of NMPIRG. 
  3. Commendation 3F - Congratulate the staff and volunteers of the Agora Crisis Center. 

SPRING

  1. Commendation 1S - Retirement of Joanna Garcia. 
  2. Commendation 2S - Congratulates Claire Karo for receiving Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc Regional Undergraduate Member of the Year Award. 
  3. Commendation 3SCongratulates UNM Society of Women Engineers (SWE) for receiving 2021 Outstanding Outreach Event. 
  4. Commendation 4SRecognizes the achievements and hard work of Governmental Affairs and President Amin for successfully lobbying the state legislature. 
  5. Commendation 5S - Recognizes the confirmation of Deb Haaland.

  7. Commendation 7S - Congratulates the four winners of the Barry Goldwater Scholarship.

Resolutions:

Resolutions are the statements of opinion by the ASUNM Senate on behalf of the ASUNM Senate.   The version below is as introduced to committee.  For a final version, if passed at Full Senate, contact asunmvp@unm.edu.

FALL

  1. Resolution 1F - Addresses the death of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement.
  2. Resolution 3F - Addresses the discrimination transgender people face and provides information about useful UNM and New Mexico resources. 
  3. Resolution 4F - Encourages UNM students to register to vote for the November 3rd, 2020 elections. 
  4. Resolution 5F - Calls upon the University of New Mexico to declare a Climate Emergency and encourages UNM to take actions on this issue. 
  5. Resolution 6F - Addresses the need for a resource center at UNM for students of, but not limited to, APIDA descent and alike to congregate. 
  6. Resolution 7F - Conveys the Administration at UNM the necessity for UNM to partake in fiscally and environmentally prudent investment strategies to protect the climate and our futures. 
  7. Resolution 8F - ASUNM denounces the use of private prisons as detentional or correctional facilities in the state of New Mexico. 
  8. Resolution 9F - ASUNM encourages greater public discussion of food and housing insecurity, as well as other economic disadvantages students face. 

SPRING 

  1. Resolution 1S - Better the communication between The Daily Lobo and ASUNM. 
  2. Resolution 2S - ASUNM encourages students to get the COVID-19 vaccine. 
  3. Resolution 3S - Encourages UNM members to consider the implications of adopting a pet to reduce animal mistreatment.
  4. Resolution 4S - Urges the State Legislature to fund the Lottery Scholarship.
  5. Resolution 5S -  ASUNM discourages and condemns efforts to spread fear-mongering tactics aimed at causing discrimination against transgender people, including those regarding athletics, and advocates for greater representation of their identities to ensure and normalize their equality. 
  6. Resolution 7SEncourages UNM to adopt more energy sustainable policies. 
  7. Resolution 8SDiscusses the increased violence and racism towards Asian-Americans. 
  8. Resolution 10S - Emphasizes the importance of the CROWN Act.
  9. Resolution 11S - Discusses the Special Election of the New Mexico's first congressional district and encourages members of the UNM community to vote.
  10. Resolution 12S - Discourages all forms of hazing and emphasizes the need for state legislatures to pass an anti-hazing law. 

Bills:

FALL 

  1. Bill 1F - Filling Senate Vacancies. 
  2. Bill 2F - Increase the amount of money Senate can allocate during the balance forward process. 
  3. Bill 3F - Change the definition of ASUNM office. 
  4. Bill 4F - Student Service Agency positions will be filled upon funding approval from the Finance Committee. 
  5. Bill 5F - Office hours of non-elected members of the Executive cabinet will be held as assigned by the President. 
  6. Bill 6F - The Attorney General will be required to publish any amendments made to the ASUNM Law Book within five days following approval by University Legal Counsel. 
  7. Bill 7F - There can be three to six appointed Elections Commissioners, appointed by the Elections Commission Executive Director. 
  8. Bill 8F - Boards and Committees Coordinator and Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will be interviewed by the Outreach and Appointments Committee. 
  9. Bill 9F - Establishing an online ballot, and allowing physical polling locations not to be required for ASUNM elections, during times of governmental declared emergencies and/or pandemic. 
  10. Bill 10F - Establish the ASUNM Emergency Scholarship. 
  11. Bill 11F - Add clarifications to the ASUNM Elections Code. 
  12. Bill 12F - Edits duties of the Attorney General. 
  13. Bill 13F - Edits parts of the ASUNM Election Code. 
  14. Bill 14F - Senators will be assigned a UNM Resource Center that they need to represent each Semester. 
  15. Bill 15F - Adds definition of Resource Center.
  16. Bill 16F - Adds a mock Full Senate Meeting to the ASUNM training session. 
  17. Bill 17F - Edits the Contest of Elections procedure. 
  18. Bill 18F - Reduce ASUNM allocation to Student Publications. 
  19. Bill 19F - Add headers to ASUNM Law Book.
  20. Bill 20F - Edits Article II: Joint Council. 
  21. Bill 21F - Joint Council Speaker would serve as a ex-officio non-voting member of the Senate. 
  22. Bill 22F - Establish the ASUNM Emergency Scholarship.

SPRING 

  1. Bill 1S -  Amendment to Budget Code. 
  2. Bill 2S -  Amendment to Elections Code. 
  3. Bill 3S -  Adds article about legislation transparency. 
  4. Bill 4S -  Adds section titles and creates sections in the Legislative Code.
  5. Bill 5S -  Adds section titles to the Finance Code. 
  6. Bill 6S -  Adds section titles to the Elections Code. 
  7. Bill 7S -  Fixes the language of Balance Forwards. 
  8. Bill 8S -  Adds the procedure for how legislation becomes law. 
  9. Bill 9S -  Amends the term of office for the Judicial Branch. 
  10. Bill 10S - Adds section titles for the Student Government Report Act. 
  11. Bill 11S - Adds section titles for the Budget Code. 
  12. Bill 12S - Adds a provision that prohibits an individual from receiving the ASUNM Emergency Scholarship twice in one year. 
  13. Bill 13S - Adds a provision that prohibits an individuals from receiving the ASUNM Advocacy Scholarship twice in one year.
  14. Bill 14S - Adds a provision that prohibits an individual from receiving the Jenny Marie Ames Scholarship twice in one year. 
  15. Bill 15S - Law Book revisions for formatting and grammar. 
  16. Bill 16S - Student Organizations must attend one of the offered budget workshops.
  17. Bill 17S - Enables certain Student Organizations to participate in the Fall 2021 Budget Process.
  18. Bill 18S - Amends the term of Office for the Judiciary Branch.
